Apparently, I am now of the age when my GP practice cordially invites male patients in for a health check. Considering I weighed a smidgen over 16st three years ago, I am extremely pleased with today's MOT. With a cholesterol level of 4.8, a BP of 128/78, and with a heart rate of 60 bpm, the cycling is having an effect.

Celebrated with an enormous korma curry ...

Well done. I haven't bothered with my checkup. ^_^

Doc recons being fit and my cycling didn't help my shoulder recovery and my recent issues, as one is always busy battering oneself on the bike. Ah well.

I had my cholesterol checked about 2 years ago, and it was 6.5. Considering it was 9.5 2 years before that, at the end of one of my non-cycling periods, I'm pretty happy with that. I don't know what it is now, but my blood pressure was last measured at about 130/70 and resting heart rate about 50. I love the effect that cycling has .

Korma? I thought from your username that you were a male? If you are you know a Korma is for girls don't you?

Korma
Korma comes from the Indian 'kurma' which means 'for her'. Korma was designed for women who were constantly getting taken on dates to curry houses by their spicy food-loving boyfriends. Experienced curry eaters would advise against ordering korma if you are a man, as it is comparable to ordering a J2O in a rough pub. The only exception is when it's part of an all you can eat buffet, where it's essential that you try everything (after all, it's costing you an entire £10).

I went for an MOT a while back. BP 120/70, heart 60 bpm, everything else OK apart from very slight lowering of kidney function, probably due to age. I asked about prostate issues and the nurse said that unless I'm up piddling several times in the night, not to worry. I asked if the check would then be done via a blood test or the traditional KY Jelly and glove method. She said lets cross that bridge when we come to it...

Oh, yes indeed, that particular delight awaits all men - no matter how fit you get cycling.

Had a Bupa one done through work this year, told me I was overweight as my BMI was 25.6 or something and I drank too much - 40-50 units/week. I have been cycling a lot before this and lost a stone and a half so what they would have said then would have been interesting. I have since cut back drinking, mainly finaincial reasons, and lost another stone, likely due to the reduced drinking!

Worth getting done, get another in a couple of years.

Oh and I know my prostate is ok
