How do you carry yours?
Buttered or plain?
Whole or sliced?
How is it packaged for you to carry?

My wife has bought me some and I beleive it is good fuel for long rides, planning on taking it on the sportive next weekend and need some advice!

I carefully open the packet, taking care not to tear down its length.
Slice and butter the loaf, then put it back together, and then back into the packet.

No good for riding, but my girlfriend has recently discovered the joys of toasting it, then melting blue cheese over it.

Recipe please, I can then get my wife to make me some  she makes all our bread, rolls, naan bread, iced buns etc. We have a friend who last bought a loaf of bread in the 1970's!

Cut it into bite-size cubes without butter and put in a big plastic bag. Much easier to manage whilst riding.

Malt loaf without butter??

Thats crazy talk brother.

Great fuel for long rides, usually take it slices stuck together with butter, in little sandwich bags. Shove two slices in together, get it down ASAP cos its quite difficult to breathe with a gobful of maltloaf, wash down with a drink.

Not too graphic I hope:smile:

Just stick it in a blender and have it half and half with water in your water bottle. Ummm.;)

It's crackin stuff for long rides - I tried to squash it in to segments, but it's fairly dense..... good stuff linked with isotonic drinks......

Have you tried the new versions?

The Plum one os to die for and is not too dry so can be eaten without butter. The Cinammon one os OK too.

I hate maltloaf, buttered or not. I know this stops me from being a Serious Cyclist, but we all have our failings.

You need Mort loaf.

Anyway, this is all rubbish - wrong approach to malt altogether. You keep it in your water bottles, and it stays fresh for ages...
