I have a Garmin Dakota that used to get used a fair bit for geocaching (and for finding the car when parked in large carparks) and I would like to make better use of it for cycling. At the moment I just start it, lock the screen and put it in my saddle bag to record the ride then when I get back I stop the stopwatch and upload the data into Garmin Connect. If anyone can help me with these questions I'd be very grateful. In the meantime I shall find the manual and read it.

What's the best mount for it - the standard Garmin one?
How can I change the order of options within a profile (I know this is easy, but can I figure it out? nope) Worked it out
How can I work out how much spare memory it has - would love to download more maps. At the moment it has the maps it came with and a bought European road map. Sorted - added MicroSD card.
Can I download routes from elsewhere? Sorted - yes - from Garmin Connect
Why does the Trip Computer always give me higher speeds on the unit than Garmin Connect does once I've uploaded the data?

How do you use yours?

Thank you.
