Apologies f this has all been done before ,or I'm on the wrong forum

I find that when I'm cycling along I tend to drift off and start thinking about other topics. It is only when another cyclist flies by that I realise I have dropped to butchers bike speed. Any thoughts techniques for keeping the little grey cells on the task?

Either

1. concentrate
2. Enjoy yourself and not care about your speed
I usually do #2

I switch between #1 and #2 but I once scared myself on a commute home when I realised that I had ridden 10 miles, climbed a steep hill and crossed 2 major junctions and had no recollection of any of it! I'd done the whole thing on autopilot in my own little world with traffic hurtling around me. I think that was a bit TOO unfocussed!

Focus, you say.

Get one of these and you won't think of anything else! :okay: Except, maybe, how to pay for it.

How do you manage to keep concentrating while driving, assuming you do?
It is clear that many drivers DON'T!

I had one driver force his way past me on Market St Hebden Bridge yesterday and I thought to myself that he didn't seem to realise how little room he had. He veered left just after going past me to avoid hitting a bus coming the other way and smashed his nearside door mirror on a parked vehicle!
