Don't ya just hate it? You drool through the web pages, chose the thing you want, fill in your credit card and address details, click the button, wait several days, eagerly watching for the postman from behind the chintz, wait a few more days until eventually, with a clump!, it come thudding through the letter box.

You unwrap if from all the parcel tape and bubble wrap. You empty the carton out onto the kitchen table, and gaze in dismay at all the bits and pieces; the wires, the springs, the mechanisms, the cable ties, the nuts, bolts, screws and washers (all of different sizes).

You find the "Users Manual" - ie a scrap of paper with the assembly and usage instructions written in 46 different languages, using 2.5 point font.

Eventually, you get the thing assembled and mounted on your bile..

.. and the f*cking thing doesn't work!!!!!:girl::wacko:!:ohmy::angry::becool::angry:

Well, actually, a computer thingy from Evans. A Trek 9i (or 11i) or something. The price was reduced: I can see why. I think the battery is flat. Or it's completely shagged. Either way, I spent an hour assembling the thing and cable tie-ing the , err, cables to the forks and so on, only to discover that it didn't compute. Or do anything at all.

So, I can either bundle it up (in its original packaging - fat chance) and send it back for a full refund, or I can take advantage of my OAP Freedom Pass to go into town to an actual (as distinct from a virtual) Evans shop, and see if they'll give me a new battery for the thing.
