Its smaller than i was expecting and i cant wait to test it out .
I have the extension lead coming on a separate order as i hope to keep the battery in the pannier bag for the commuter.

can i charge it using a shaver plug? i did order the adapter as well but looks like that has not come yet .

if it's a Euro plug (two round pins) then yes it will fit a shaver socket. Bear in mind though, those run off the lighting circuit not the power, so not really recommended.
Cant imagine it will take a big current to charge thougg, so you should be fine.

Think he means a shaver adapter plug - yes you can.

Let us know how you go on with the new battery. I've stopped using the 1st generation battery and made my own from 6xAA's - slightly less run time, but the pack should last longer overall.

Remember to charge somewhere where the temperature is above freezing.
Since my batteries are secured to my bike I have to charge them in the garage so have to take special measures to ensure they are protected from the cold during charging.

Thanks for the heads up

I will be taking mine off my bike as i do not trust anyone at work not to half inch it , charging will be done probably by the pc where i can keep an eye on it then kept in the garage when not in use.

You will not be disappointed with it, they are truly amazing lights and excellent value for money. There are some stories going around about the batteries over heating and catching fire but they are rumour. I certainly wouldn't be without mine, there is nothing else like it for the money.

Anyone interested in doing an AA based battery pack you will need:-

1 x 6 AA Battery Holder - Maplin HQ01B £1.19 (3 x 2 configuration in series) - Gives you 7.2v from 6 rechargeables

Like this:-

1 x PP3 Connector - Maplin NE19V £0.99 - this is for the rigid connector that shields the pins completely

1 x Magicshine extension or splitter cable (to butcher)

Some electrical shrink wrap.

Basically all you need to do is join the magicshine connector to the PP3 cable, and and use the shrink wrap to seal it. The pack still fits inside the magicshine fabric case. To make the join, I twisted each cable together (no solder), shrink wrapped both cables to insulate, then added another two layers of shrink wrap to ensure a neat join.

The only issue I had at first is that one of the middle batteries can pop out slightly under road vibration, breaking the connection - so I use a 2 x small pieces of foam and a couple of elastic bands to secure the centre batteries before putting in the case. Run time depends upon what re-chargeables you use.

This gives you the option of a cheap spare pack
