With the nights drawing in, I retrieved my Magicshine 880 from the drawer and charged it up ready to use. The battery seemed to charge okay but when I plugged the light in, nothing happened. Have I forgotten something or are they prone to fail after periods of non-use???

Did you check the battery regularly to see if it was charged?

You should store them at about 40 % charge .

I just packed it away. I didn't check what charge it had.

The battery says 8.4v now I've charged it, but the light doesn't come on.

Hi Martin, I'm still learning new things on this forum, but there is one commandments thou shalt not break, speak not ill of Magicshine, the holy grail of night riding. I use a hope vision 1 on medium setting but then I guess I'm a bit slower than your average rider.
Seriously, we were hoping to see you on our ride next month.

it would appear from my research into a new front light that these new Lithium ion battery's ( as fitted to these MagicSHines and similar lights) are not to be fully discharged they should be kept topped up or discharged to 40% then kept in the freezer????
