For the last couple of months I've been stuck on 26 mile as being my longest ride. I've been out a few times but due to time or weather I've ended up doing between 16 and 22 mile. Today I managed a 37-mile trip which had over 600 meters of climbing, and I was bushed. I paced myself and took fluids and power bars on board at 7, 15 and 21 miles, and glad that all the climbing was done in the first 12-mile because i was goosed at the end with screaming thighs The last 6-mile was bad but the feeling of elation whilst having a beer in bath after was brilliant.

Not bad for a 58-year old newbie recovering from a heart attack 15-month ago. I'll check the bike out in the morning as I just shoved it into the garage and shut the door when I got back.

Thanks but no thanks. I think I'll pass.

Well done. Many congratulations on your achievement.

I'm more worried about getting 1,000 miles done in 12-months as I'm 650 miles into it and need to get done by December. Probably average 80-miles per month so far, so should be ok, although I have a holiday abroad coming up etc. Fingers crossed

Thanks for the comments by the way

:bravo: Well done. I was really chuffed when I managed a 30 mile ride earlier this year (even more chuffed when I managed a 50 mile ride a couple of months later). I'm using cycling to get over a heart attack also. Mine was coming up to a year ago. You'll make your 1,000 mile target no problem
