No, but I bought a pair of men's swimming trunks for riding in the everlasting rain: ideal, not too short like women's shorts, not revealing like lycra. Had big problems in finding a small enough size though

I cut it off!
Actually, my non cycling friend steered me towards the guy's swimming trunks, after I dragged her to sports direct, told her I wanted a pair of not too short shorts, a bit waterproof, not tight looking, blah blah  she said to try those. So I answered (like you) what, the ones with that rough lining inside?
My friend looked at me like I was daft, and said: cut it off!

Hmm interesting idea, I want some shorter baggies for pub rides if summer ever arrives. I wear baggy MTB shorts that are some kind of lycra mix so super stretchy and free to pedal in, but theyre more like 3/4 lengths.

Well, on me the guy's trunks are just above the knee. I was wearing them above cotton leggings on a ride (I could have lost the leggings, it was not as cold as I thought) it started raining heavy: the rain was just sliding off them, they were barely wet when I got home.
