Anyone riding the LVIS Barry's Bristol Ball Bash this weekend? I have heard really excellent reports about these audaxes but have never ridden them before. What are the routes like on the ground?

Yes, and I recommend it!

I am doing the 200km. This is a nice event and the cakes are excellent.

I've already done the 200 last year. The first 100 km exit Bristol NW then do a big loop going clockwise around Bristol skirting the Cotswolds, undulating but nothing too taxing. It then goes South towards the mendip hills where there is a steep climb followed (after 10km or so) by an equally steep descent. It is then mostly flat or small gradients except a climb at the end.

EDIT: you need to enter fairly soon.

Goodie (I think). I need some hills ahead of The Elenith. Anything that mentions the Cotswolds makes me groan. In the past two weeks I have ridden two events that ascended the steep escarpments on the western side of these hills. It sounds as though it will be interesting.

Entries have now closed - over 350 people are doing it! Weather forecast is for it to be cold, bright and no wind. Let's hope it stays that way.

I wussed out and entered the 100k.
