I was going to do but I have been suffering with flu (of the non-piggy variety) so spent the day in bed. How did it go?

I did it a couple of years ago and my memory was that just as I thought it was coming to an end and I was in the home stretch I would be suddenly swung off in a whole new direction!

I was there, riding with another fixed (Paul) at the back as I was making it into a DIY 200 by riding to/from the start from SW15.

Lumpier than I expected, I'd forgotten that Beds/Herts isn't as flat as Cambs. ;)

My head wasn't really enjoying it, it seemed like a bit of a chore at times, not the fault of the route or organisers (both fantastic) but more because I'm on a natural post-LEL low. It's taking a while for my body/brain to really want to go out cycling again.

I was desperate to do this as its one of very few audax rides local to me. The organiser never received my cheque though, as a consequence I didn't receive a route sheet or any kind of confirmation and I missed out. Was it a good turnout? Apparently there's another Herts ride on the 20th but I'll be at the Manchester derby! I was really disappointed, lumpy as it is the Hertfordshire countryside makes for pretty nice riding. I've been doing my own route up to Bishop's Stortford and back round anyway, a little over 100km. Sorry to hear about your post-LEL low, like you say its pretty natural. After LEJoG I didn't enjoy riding for weeks!

Our club "The Gregarios Superclub Ciclista" has done this ride a number of times as it starts on our patch. Its a brilliant course, so make sure you do it next year! If you enjoy riding the rolling roads of Hertfordshire, or The Chiltern bumps - then come for a spin with us some Sunday - we're always looking for new members, and you'll be made welcome.
