The Luton and Dunstable Cycling Forum, who run many cycling events in the Luton & Dunstable area, are running the inaugural "Luton & Dunstable Charity Bike Ride" to take place on Sunday 28th June. There is a choice of routes of either 20 miles or 40 miles, both of which start and end at Dunstable Downs. The 20 mile route is aimed at beginners and families whilst the 40 mile route is for those wanting more of a challenge. Both routes use a mixture of quiet roads and off road shared used paths enabling the riders to enjoy the local countryside.
Full details can be found on Facebook page specially set up by the The Luton and Dunstable Cycling Forum at www.Facebook.com/LutonandDunstableCharityBikeRide - you do not need to be a member of Facebook to read the information. By clicking on the registration link you can sign up on-line.
The event costs £15 for individuals or a family group registration of £10 per member. The registration covers the cost of staging the event and we would encourage participants to support one of the four charities we are supporting - Keech Hospice, Luton & Dunstable Hospital Fund, the National Trust and Sustrans.
There will be a starting point near to the Gateway Centre on Dunstable Downs, and after signing in, riders will be able to set off from 9 am onwards. This is not a competitive cycle ride, as there are no timing chips or energy gels as the Cycling Forum wants people to enjoy the cycling and the achievement of cycling 20 or 40 miles and raising money for good causes.
