Lumen ratings for lights.

Mtbr has done an awesome post about lumens, they have even tested a handful of lights and the results are posted at the bottom of the article. The magicshine, as most of us have said, under performs.

How are lumens measured? In a $20,000 machine!

but the confusing thing is how some lights are rated in lumens whilst other are in other ratings why cant all be measured and rated using 1 std rating........... then everythig would be clear to see

Notice that the two testing companies did manage to get their claimed Lumens - whether this is because they have the testing facilities in house and therefore have checked over a period of time that their product meets their claims, I've no idea. Pity the Hope light is missed again.

Many road-specific lights are rated in Lux because that shows the advantage of good optics over raw power.

True that they under perform the dubious marketing but for useful lumens for your buck, magic shine and the fluxients appear to be best value.
