Lubing a rear hub

Cleaned the bike after a long muddy ride today and the rear hub is now making a low tinkling noise - sounds like bits of grit in there somewhere.

It's a Shimano Alfine 11, Magura disc brakes, and is on the freewheel, so nothing directly to do with the chain or sprocket.

I'm not going to lose any sleep over it, but the fact remains it ran silently before.

Is my cleaning regime lacking in rigour?

Or is there any way to lube the hub bearings?

Any thoughts welcome.

More likely to be some grit that has got into the brake caliper and is rubbing against the disc - as most axle bearings are relatively well sealed against moisture and crud ingress. Having said that, some forums report numerous issues where seals have failed - particularly when used off road. I must confess to having never seen an Alfine hub close up - but I believe that as this is a sealed unit working on an oil bath principle you have to drain off the old oil and replace. I hope I am right and it is just grit in the caliper!
