can't get my trousers past my huge thighs!!
hey there was looking to put some axel grease on my bike to keep the chain etc. in good working order and wondering if good old carlube ML-2 general purpose would be ideal??

I did have GT 85 that quite frankly was useless.....washed off everyday in the Scottish weather so would like to know if this would do the trick!! cheers guys

No. It'll attract all manner of grit and form a grinding compound over your chain, shortening its life and wrecking your drivetrain, not to mention making everything unimaginably filthy. Spend a couple of quid on a proprietary chain lube, and learn the "mickle method" of chain cleaning/lubing.

no it's anything but thin....quite thick and heavy by the look of things......it's car axel grease!!! the GT 85 was thin almost liquid spray that had a PTFE laced through it but really was useless.....sprayed the bike everyday and got a new chain and still got rusty!!

good thing I asked you guys first then isn't it!!! the bike is brand new....still has a tackiness to the chain etc so not urgent but thinking of getting something on it that will keep everything good long term as I want to look after the bike a little better than my last one!

The coating on the chain will last a few miles, but eventually will wear off. If you like the chain to look clean and run smooth get one of the dry lube types. It'll need replacing frequently, but rewards with a clean and grit free effect.
