Lower back pain

Having started racing and time trialing this week (2 races and 2 time trials this week - no wonder the legs are aching a bit), my lower back is really picking up the strain.

I reckon the reason for this is that I seem to overemphasize the bend at the lower back ,rather than the hips, so when in an aero position it creates a large amount of strain. Whilst I will obviously try to amend this, are there any tweaks in bike position that will assist this? I'm considering putting a slight tilt in the saddle

Cheers

With 4 races in 1 week at the start, DOH! Stretch more and race less.

Lots of recovery rides and stretches pre and post race and every day.

Have you got a plan on what you want particular races you want to win this year and therefore train toward so you reach your peak at that point or are you just going balls out at each and every event?

Long periods in Aero position take some serious getting used to Just ask your hip flexors!!.

Have you done a long period of bedding in to the Aero position prior to racing.

Mind you so will 2 races and 2TT's in a week is a lot so maybe just calming down a little may help.

My aim this year is to learn the ropes of it all, and hopefully progress to 3rd catagory later in the season. I guess I have done a lack of "bedding into the aero position"....but want to make sure I get the posture right so that I don't do myself harm.

if you've ever had a lower back injury in the past (even a muscular one) you might find it very difficult to completely remove all the pain but this sounds more like too much too soon which could certainly lead to such an injury in the end so be careful!
