I live in Southampton so I have cycled there (adds another 16 or so miles) or shove the bike on the car and travel for 20mins - which to be fair is no hardship.
London - god no, takes too long to get anywhere nice!

Not so sure about ice 
but on Sunday the roads round here had a nice frost & I kind of liked the sound riding on roads with the fresh frost quietly crunching under tyres
