I generally find it difficult to eat in the mornings before I have done any exercise, so when doing an organised long distance event yesterday, I forced myself to eat a large bowl of porridge a while before I set out.
I cycled 50 miles, which for me, is beyond my usual, so I felt quite tired afterwards, and the garmin worked out I had burnt approx 2500 calories.
I thought I would be starving the rest of the day, but found I could barely eat. I only had a few jelly babies, a banana, and 3 biscuits on route, yet found that I was not really hungry for the rest of the day, and even the next day I haven't felt any more hungry than a normal day.
Does anyone know why this is, or experience the same, as there is no way I can have fed myself the calories I required?
Thank you!

No idea, when me and my other half go for a run she is always starving when she gets back, whereas I am the opposite! It's a personal thing and probably genetic.

That being said, the day after a hard ride. I am the literal definition of fridge raider.

You haven't replaced the calories. OK for a one off, but not every day.

I'd recommend milkshake (milk and a powdered milkshake mix) or just milk after a ride - plenty of nutrients, and the 'shake' bit just adds some extra calories. Worth eating pasta after.

You ideally need to eat something within 45 minutes of exercise for your body to take on the nutrients and this aids recovery - so something simple like milk is great. Add a banana or two (or indeed strawberries), then blend, for a really nice drink.
