I'm aiming to lose around 4 stone over the winter months, through both diet and exercise. There seems to be a few posters on here that achieved this and my question to them is..... Am i going to end up with a large amount of 'loose' skin where my belly and manboobs are at the minute? If yes is there anything that can be done during the weight loss time to reduce this happening?
I'm doing this because my doc wants me to go on blood pressure and cholesterol tablets and I don't fancy medication for the rest of my life.

I lost nearly 4 stone with no baggy skin.
You are worrying over nothing.

Some people can lose large amounts of weight and not have any lose skin, others can lose the same amount and have lots of loose skin. It depends entirely on your skin type. Either way if losing the weight will stop you having to go on medications then personally I would say loose skin is a small price to pay (and that is speaking as someone who does have lots of loose skin).

I was obviously one of the lucky ones, I went from 23 stone to 15 stone with no loose skin flapping about. Lose the weight, if you do end up with loose skin and it is upsetting you, I'm sure there are options to get it dealt with. But to be honest, you'll be so happy with the lost weight it really won't be a thing.

I lost four stone a while ago. Two stone over a year with exercise and cutting down on eating junk and another two stone in three months really concentrating on good eating with the exercise. No loose skin from either the slower weight loss or the faster weight loss. There are ways to deal with it if you have loose skin but it's a better problem to have than being four stone overweight.

this will largely depend on your age (linked to skin elasticity) and just how much your skin has been stretched - if your beer belly isn't 'hanging over' i.e. it just sticks out, you should be fine.

Either way, your health will benefit from losing the weight so don't worry about the loose skin, at least not until after you have lost the weight!

I have lost 5 stone and I do now have some loose skin, plus lots of stretch marks. My skin is not as elastic as it was when I was younger (I am nearly 59 now) so I was expecting it.

Yes, go ahead and lose the weight. The only sensible thing I can think of to tighten skin again would be to develop some bigger muscles to take up the slack, (Obviously there is a limit to that, but I only need an inch or so here and there to make a big difference.)
