I have had an annoying click for ages. I have stripped and rebuild the BB and checked the axles. Today I finally located what I think is the cause. The freewheel has a slight movement on it. I changed it with the chain less than a year ago. It seemed tight on the splines at the time.
What could have caused it to get loose and how can I cure it ?

Thanks

You say it's a freewheel - but then mention it being "tight on the splines" which suggests it's a cassette not a freewheel.

Assuming it's a cassette - what kind of freehub is it? A cassette can chew up freehub splines, especially if the lockring was not tight enough.

If that's the problem, some freehubs are replaceable. Shimano hubs for example need a 10 mm allen key to remove the hollow bolt that holds them on.
