I have been looking around without success for some bars for a bike I am building up. I want some that are the same as fitted to my Kona. The photos below will probably show better what I am talking about, but basically these are just the most comfortable shape and have a short reach. I have built another couple of bikes and have tried to achieve the same position but without the same shaped bar it is impossible.
Here you can see that the top of the bars are the same height as the hoods and do not project too far forwards
Notice how the levers are not too far forward .
They are standard bars that came fitted.
Older type bars and stem I know but this is to show what I am trying to avoid
The bars are in a better position but it shifts the levers too far forward. I have tried the bars and levers in various positions but it is never going to work. I need some bars that don't curve out so far before they drop down.
Obviously the Kona is a cyclocross bike, are most cross bikes fitted with this kind of bar?
I am not necessarily qoing to use a quill stem, thinking about an adaptor with a modern type of stem and bar, that should provide me with more options.
Grateful for any suggestions.
