Hi I'm looking in for a good cycle mechanic to fit a full shimano ultegra groupset onto my canondale supersix 105 11 speed road bike in the Chelmsford area? Any idea of prices?:bicycle:

Two hours work, I'd guess £30 - £50.

It's not a particularly difficult job (personally I find wrapping the new bar tape to my personal satisfaction the hardest bit!). Why not give it a go yourself?

I admire your optimism, but it's half a day's work on any day of the week. Don't forget new cables & outers too...

If your confident you could learn to do it yourself. There's a few tools you will need to buy but will save money in the long run. Getting anything done at a LBS is never cheap. I wouldn't expect any change from £100 at my LBS for that. Might be even more.

All professional quality tools to hand, work environment set up for that purpose, no scrabbling round to find all the little used tools that are buried somewhere in the box underneath the plug spanner, assorted chisels, wallpaper scrapers and other stuff that abound in the average sh1thole that passes for a garage.

And all done by a guy who is doing the job day in, day out.

If you can give me the number of any shop that can do that job in two hours, I will stop doing my own maintenance and take my bikes there instead...

I'm a mere amatuer when it come to fixing / repairing / upgrading bikes but my bike tools, car tools and household tools occupy very separate boxes and locations ^_^

I was recently quoted £120 for a full groupset change - removal of old set-up, fitting and setting up of replacement - which I thought was reasonable for the work involved.
