Hi there,

I am new to London, to this site and new to road cycling. I am planning to buy a decent bike fairly soonish and looking to find a good club, partner to cycle with. I am looking to cycle around 3-4 times per week, doing a faily long ride on the weekend.

Hi All,

Thanks for all your help so far. I am really pumped now to start cycling as soon as possible.

I am going to buy a pinarello FP3 on the weekend. I am a beginner but i still want something fairly decent. I read a lot of reviews on it and know it is a good bike, however could it be too advanced for a beginner like me??? Any suggestions?

Phew! You won't be leaving it locked up anywhere will you? In London a bike like that would need to live in your bedroom or under your bottom, nowhere else.

I cycle around that area a bit, so if you fancy the company you can always tag along. I too am a beginner to all this. How far are you planning to cycle?

I am in Fulham area.

Finest part of town for easy access to RP and the Surrey Hills (either by road or the train). I am about 6 months ahead of you on the road bike learning curve and will be happy to share my accumulated knowledge and views of various routes, clubs etc. Am self employed and semi-retired now so am quite flexible re ride times; having said that one of the great pleasures is riding in RP before the road gates are open so early starts are not unknown.

If you mean a gang wearing the same shirt then that's probably London Dynamo who train there a couple of times a week. If you mean a lot of cyclists in general, then yes, it is a very popular place for all sorts of cyclists. I cycle over from Islington (round trip of 28 miles) to do laps of the park, just because it's a nice environment and it's good to be with lots of other bikes for a change.

We started trying to get some evening Richmond park rides orgsanised on Wednesday evenings but to be honest it only lasted 1 week

Look out in the CC and informal rides section of the forum and the thread called London and Home counties rides. User1314 will be leading a CC ride in Nov (1 year on from our first one that met in the park).

The evenings will soon be getting dark earlier and noticed this last night in RP (was a wet windy lap with my mate who lives parsons green).
