I am looking for a few new cycle buddies. I am almost a novice. A drunken conversation at new year led to me doing the London to Brighton. However I was terrible. I work shifts to finding it hard to get out training with my friend. Really enjoying what i have done so far..and have delusions of grandeur regarding doing end to end..

is there anyone out there that would be willing to train with me, to make me better?

just drop me a line.

Ps HAVE NEVER BLOGGED, CHATTED OR USED A FORUM IN MY LIFE HA HA

Hello vicksterh9 and welcome to the CC forum.

Whereabouts are you based? A lot of forumers meet up and have rides in their areas; they cater for all cyclists and people don't get left behind, and you will most definitely find folk who cycle at your pace.

Keep your eyes open and use the forum to ask any questions you may have. No question is too simple, although I can't vouche for the answers you'll get!

Enjoy your riding!

Hi Vickster,

Welcome to CC.

Echoing Dayvo's question, whereabouts are you exactly? I'm in Cheltenham and there are a couple of good clubs in the area (as well as the possibility of a CC forum ride). Cheltenham and County are a really friendly bunch and their Saturday rides are very social and you'll be sure to find a group that goes at your pace with them. Their Sunday rides are a bit longer and faster. They also have social club runs to a pub on Tuesday nights. If any of those aren't suitable there is also a strong link to the Cheltenham CTC group who meet at the same place (sometimes at the same time sometime at a different time!).

If you're more Gloucester way, I know Gloucester City are a good club but I don't know much about when their rides are etc.

Enjoy your riding and get in touch if you have any questions.

Hi Vickster. I'm only over in Ross on Wye, I also work funny shifts (am at work now) and would be happy to go for a spin sometime. I'm not as fit as once I was though ...

There is the Ross Cycling club or over here in the Forest of Dean, the Royal Dean Forest CC. A group/club?? called Glos velo exist in the forest but I can't seem to get in touch with them. Is it road or mountain biking you are into. All the the off road you need in the Forest. Maybe you could ask around, try Revolutions in Ross or Severn Valley cycles in Lydney. As a supply teacher I am often about midweek. Pm me if you want.
