Look Keo vs Shimano Spd-SL R540 (105) Pedals

As I've only ever used Look Keo's until recently (got some Wellgo Carbon's...and they're just not....right), so was looking at the Shimano Spd-SL R540 (105) Pedals.

Anyone had both of the above, how did they compare against each other?

I've been wondering exactly the same thing.

I want to make the move from SPD 520 (mountain bike type pedals) to SPD-SL or Look pedals, but I can't really figure out what the big difference between Look pedals and SPD-SL really is, apart from price. I've been stalking some SPD-SL Ultegra pedals on Ebay and noticed that Look pedals are a LOT cheaper.

For example, THESE pedals are only £20 including cleats! At that price it almost seems worth a punt purely based on price!


So does this really matter?
