I'm doing the King of the North Downs on Sunday and the weather looks awful. I haven't done any long ( it's 110miles of hills) rides in the wet.
What would you recommend?

If it were me and it's warm enough then shorts. I can't stand having soggy clingy longs on when cycling.

Definitely shorts. There's less cloth to saturate.

I'll be wearing shorts for my 160km Audax from the Humber Bridge.

Your skin's waterproof so wear shorts. Only if it's cold should you consider leggings. If in doubt, put some warming oil on your legs (remember to wash your hands before having a wee though ).

in all seriousness - think twice about doing it - although I appreciate that the twenty quid (I almost reached for the horror smiley) entrance fee is tough to walk away from. The roads, particularly those in Surrey are poor, and in the wet the descents will be miserable. And some of your fellow riders will be....unpracticed. I saw this ride go through Shere last year and the word that came to mind was muppets.

New brake blocks at a minimum.
