Hi,

ive been fettling a XL Raleigh racer and the Ambrosio 57mm caliper is just a little bit too small. Ive searched around and theres some extra deep tecktro calipers but they are £36 -£56. which i dont mind paying i like the tecktro brakes and have some on another bike, but i need a workaround until the cash arrives, i.e. another caliper maybe from an old mtb or something. Has anyone tried this? and ill nip to recyke y byke Saturday.

many thanks mark

Have you tried mounting the front brake behind the forks and rear brake in front of the seat stays? This might give you a few mm extra drop.

Shaping the pads might give you a couple of mm additional drop, but at the expense of some stopping power though.
