So was wondering what the best life cycle camera out there is.
Don't want to spend anything more than £100 and would like to record longer rides but also take stills.
I have done a bit of research and they all seem to have little battery life.

Does anyone have one that lasts for a longer time ?

I've not long ordered a SJ 4000
It's meant to be an alternative to go pro but we'll see. The battery is reported to last 70-90 minutes however you can pick spares up for around £5 each and there really small so not an issue to carry.
The camera itself is £50

GoPro will get you about 3 hours continuous recording. The £95 one is the obvious choice, but it's only weakness is that the battery is not replaceable.

I think I may have to up my budget a bit for one that you can change the battery in as would like to use it for maybe 5 hours either that or figure out if I can charge with a piggy back battery when I stop for food

The only problem with giving the battery a little charge when you stop is that if you repeatedly take a lithium battery off charged before it is fully cooked it will start to lose its ability to hold a full charge, giving much reduced run times. My Vivitar 794HD is pretty good for £60 and it gives around 2 hours continuous videoing. The battery is replaceable and a quick look on the net confirmed availability of spares for less than a fiver.

For reference, the Kitvision HD 10 at £109.00 from Argos direct gets very good reviews. It also claims around two hours battery life and the battery is also replaceable. An added bonus is that it comes with a small LCD viewfinder, which is pretty rare for action cams.

The garmin virb is claimed to last 3hours. I've the elite (with extra gps to drain the battery) and I've been very happy with the picture quality, ease of use and the battery life and it takes great skills too. I've read some have had a problem with the cam locking up/ refusing to switch of but If it does you just have to open the battery compartment and close it, that resets the unit (another handy tip I read on the web).
