This is not really a technical question so I will put it on here.

I do not want to fit a dynohub on my bike just yet. I would just like to kow what light/s you use for the long Audax rides and would you recommend them. There is no need for a review, I can do that.

Just the name of the light and recommend or don`t recommend will be good enough for me.

Under £200 would be good.

Thanks for the help

Busch & Muller Ixon IQ, fantastic light, 5 hours on full power, 20 hours on low power. £55 from Germany including postage.

I'm falling out of with Exposure lights, for motorists & cyclists with decent lights they're great but for those with effective be-seen but not see-by lights they seem to cause problems. My self I now use a pair of B&M IXON IQ Speed lights, though I wish they'd use LI-ION rather than Ni-MH batteries.

I've recently purchased one of these from this guy's ebay site.

I'll have to wait couple of weeks before I can get my paws on it open it up

... and XX weeks until there is no snow/ice and I can actually try it !

If you look at the the bike-light-shoot-out there are some quite useful beam shots - and more are appearing on his ebay site as he photographs them.

I intend using them for audax as well - and don't really want to spend more night riding hours than the battery will last (5 hrs on High = 8-9+ on Medium ?); the pole in the beam shots is about 50 metres away, I think. I know that I need to slow down when I have light only 20 metres in front of me, so I'm hopeful that 50m will be enough.

If it isn't, then options are either to slow down conserve energy a bit

or to get another light - time will tell which route I will go.

I got these lights this year (mostly because they were relatively cheap):

I've done a full nights riding with them so should be OK on a 600 with a morning start but not likely for PBP
