OK..Now the proud owner of a Scott sub 30 hybrid,I really want to set myself a target of the london to brighton ride this year.
I need some advice,i live in essex and was worried about the logistics of getting to the start and getting home again afterwards without imposing on the missus..kids etc.
I noticed that bikes are banned on trains this weekend due to the number of riders..has anyone experienced this ride before and overcome any issues.
Ideally I'd love a local ride partner or partners to all get through it and deal with the transport problems.
Sounds mad but it's the only issue putting me off doing it!

How are you in weekend traffic? You could always cycle in.

being a northerner London seems to have a million cars and approx 57 parking spaces to put them all in, i would give the place a massive miss , i found on this type of event for the first cpl of big rides having someone there to meet you is a big plus, not only for transport but to bore them all the way home about all the smallest details of every inch of the ride, as this is a must on big rides.
You have picked the ride that most prob has the largest number or riders in it, so ever possible transport option will be hammered, so get the wife and kids involved for this fist big one.
Get her to drop you off as close to the start as you can and then they can go off to the sea side for a great day out and to await your arrival.

Nice bike by the way , i love my Scott S50 and will be doing several "big" rides on it this year

We are from the other side of the water in Kent we got on the train from dartford to London bridge and cycled to clapham common from there as does many people. The organisers do lay on st extra cost lorrys and coaches to get you back to clapham straight after your ride do its fairly simples that's how we did it last year......

Otherwise perhaps consider London to Southend as your target, (Taking the overground from Romford into London for the start and you could then consider cycling back from Southend to Romford if transport posed a problem and make it a bigger acheivement in the process)
