There was an apparent warning from the race director after the first crash, but possibly too late for the other 3.

Weather conditions were perfect so the danger was purely due to the actual road and the way it was being raced. It should have been obvious to the organisers in advance that riders would be going for it at that late stage of the race so I think that there should have been a strong warning about the bend in the race documentation and there should have been a race marshal with flag and whistle to warn riders to slow down.

The injuries were bad enough, but somebody could easily have died there yesterday.
