Looking for (after some Tw*T stole my kensiton mini D and cable -cut off when bike wasnt even there) a good strong lock combo for leaving at home to lock race bike up with at the moment its staying in the bedroom ( fine by me but wife is a bit annoyed) just to set the scene had a kensinton orange mini and 4ft cable which worked but wasnt the best for ease and the cable always worried me tbh so looking around £60- £160 as bike is my 5 day commute and i cannot afford to lose it ( its insured but a i cannot afford train fares most months so the insurance wait and hassle would cost me dearly) would also be in the market for a "travel" lock for club rides to leave outside pubs etc.

so shopping list is:-
and secure heavey lock/s + cables? for home
and a lighter lock and cable for travelling ( might go orange big kensington and a 6ft cable for this but open to ideas)

The faghs are awesome, but be warned, you will need practice locking up as they are quite small. Wouldn't be without mine though.
do they fit? i having second thoughts on this and might get the Kryptonite New York M-18 as this is "normal" size but its £40 cheaper so thinking not as good? all locks would 90% the time be used at home but if i would need to i would be taking the cable and the fagh..

fossy how much can you fit in the fagh mini?

I can put the lock through the rear triangle near the brake bridge to enclose frame, wheel and the sheffield stand - you just need to be able to get the bike frame close to the stand. This also means there is no space to get any tools in to force it. Other options are to lock via seat tube and wheel to sheffield stand. We have some poorly designed locations for stands (near walls) which usually means some jiggery pokery, but a standard open sheffield stand is no problem.

Parker are usually cheapest for the FAGH. PS It's a beast of a lock, heavy for the size. These and the top end ABUS Granite are the ones to use.

My understanding (from the LBS) is the fagh mini is higher rated because of its size, it's really hard to get leverage in it with a crowbar, whereas the NY size (and any d-lock that size) you can break open with a crowbar.

I do like my Abus Granit Extreme, even though it weighs more then some bikes!
