I want to replace the Shimano Sm-RT70 Ice Tech Centrelock disc rotors on my Cannondale Synapse 105 Carbon road bike with Shimano Shimano SM-RT900 Dura Ace Ice Tech FREEZA.

The SM-RT70 uses this lockring:

which I think is the Shimano part no.: SM-RT81and the SM-RT900 uses part no.: Y8PV98010

I think they are same just a different colour.
Is Park Tool FR5.2 the correct lockring tool to use?

DCLane

Found in the Yorkshire hills ...
They're the same, only very slightly lighter. In weight, not just colour.

And yes, it's the same tool.

I noticed on YouTube they use the one with a guiding pin. Is this one better to use with thru axle wheels?

No need. The spline interface is pretty secure and the 40Nm torque is the same as for a cassette lock ring. Fasten dry (no grease).
