Little bar fallen out of campag brake lever assembly

I snapped a rear brake cable recently and while the cable was broken the little bar that goes through the top end of the brake lever fell out. I replaced it with a bolt which isn't satisfactory as it moves and stops the lever from closing properly. I asked at my local bike shop but even they didn't seem to be able to get to the bottom of this one.
Is it a spare part or do I have to get a whole new lever ( or a better fitting bolt)?

Have you checked this out to see whether you can find the broken bit you are talking about? Imho Campag provides better parts support than their competitors.

susoect that to get component level bits'n'pieces you'll need a special clas of Campagnolo dealer. iirc Mercian are one such.
