Over the last year or so my twice daily charging of LIR123A batteries has basically killed them off. So time to replace them but with what? There seems to be Panasonic & Sanyo produced cells between 650 & 880mAh. Any particular advantages to any of these cells or should I just try & get the cheapest at the highest possible capacity?

Personally I would go with a known make. Panasonics have a good reputation with 18650 sized batteries. It's a you pays yer money. Sanyo should be fine as well.

In the 18650 sized you are better off with Sanyo based batteries for bike lights to maximise endurance in winter even though they're a lower capacity compared to Panasonic. The Sanyo cells have a nicer voltage profile for lights & don't lose as much capacity at low temps.
