Sometimes opening a link will open the topic page instead, even though the link appears to be valid (the correct URL is showing in the browser status bar). Sometimes a subsequent click on the link will work, other times the problem persists.

It has happened to me most recently on this topic, but it does seem to be intermittent.

Most odd.

Okay, just to clarify ... is the link you are clicking on a CycleChat URL or an external link, such as an online shop?

We do have an issue with some CycleChat requests timing out (which is why I've ordered the memory upgrade) and I know that if an external URL is not correctly formed it will not pass through the commission link checker and leave you on a blank page (so use the back button for those).

But if it's serving the wrong pages for local links then yes, that's odd.

Oh, and what browser / OS are you using?

Cheers,
Shaun

Hi

It's external links. The link looks correct (the URL displayed in the status bar is OK) but when I click it, it opens the exact same CycleChat page as I am on. It's as if it's trying to process the outgoing link and fails.

A minute later, clicking the exact same link usually works.

It's quite rare though, and intermittent, so probably not worth spending ages on.

I'm on Firefox.

Shaun, I use different browsers depending on where I am. Recently I've noticed that IE browsers open links in the same page whereas Firefox and Chrome open in new tabs...in the past didn't all browsers open links to a new tab or window?

I think there are a few problems with IE9 (which has been automatically rolled-out to a lot of people's machines without them even realising).

Is this happening on a particular skin/theme? (what's displayed in the drop-down box at the bottom left?)

Cheers,
Shaun
