I am sure they're nothing special and I can get some from the local hardware shop but what gauge/spec screws do I need to buy to replace the limit screws on a Shimano (front) mech? I have cack-handedly spoiled the heads on mine.

thanks

Mine are M4 X 13mm. If you are in any doubt put the chain on to the middle ring (assuming you have three front rings) and remove one of the screws. Measure the length and diameter or take it to your hardware store and try and find a match. When you refit just adjust for high low limits. Hope this helps.

Thanks

I'll get some M4's tomorrow. If they're wrong I can get to the LBS Saturday but wanted to do some fettling tomorrow if possible.

thanks again

Just another thought MC. You may have to match the screw heads as mine fit flush inside a recessed hole. A normal chess head or pan head would probably be ok if you fitted longer ones but wouldn't fit as nicely in the recess.

Just looking at Shimano tech docs, the front mechs all seem to use M4 for the limit screws. Have you thought about titanium (won't rust and less likely to strip the head)? Couple of quid from eBay.

If I can't get some tomorrow from the hardware shop then I'll go to the LBS for some Saturday (they only groan a little bit when I turn up these days).

If they can't help, then eBay it is.

Thanks
