Have quite light tyres ( on a new bike ). They are Vittoria Diamante. When they need replaced I fancy Schwalbe Ultremos ( think they look really pretty .. which I feel is important ). Anyhows, what sort of life expectancy ( mileage / kilometreage ) should be expected of light racing tyres ?
Ta very much to all the knowledgable old hands ... you know who you are.

Michelin Pro2's and 3's are marketed as having around 3500km life expctancy. I've had about 3500 miles out of them (although the rear was in pretty bad shape). Conti 4000s are about the same, perhaps a bit more durable.

I do not measure it specfically, but I know that the tyres on my commuter; Conti 4000s were put on there in the autumn and I have covered over 1200 miles on that bike since Jan. So, I would reckon about 2500 miles completed and they still look good. I run them till punctures start to become a regular issue or they just look thin or I get a cut in them.

25mm GP 4 Seasons last about 3000 miles for me.

My Panaracer Stradius Elite TG front (26mm) has done 6000 miles so far, and it's still quite a light and quick tyre (although not as nice as the GP 4 Seasons).

I buy Conti UltraGatorSkins from Ribble in batches of four. They last about 4000 miles if they don't get damaged by broken glass etc.

Ribble do some good 'quantity' offers, so I buy in bulk.
