There are so many different ones but a simple google search doesn't give me a great answer..

Basically I want (would like) the brightest (wide and distance) beam, minimalist shake, and won't slip on handle bars - plus preferably a 4+ hour battery (rechargeable).. Oh and waterproof.. For up to £100.. Or £150 if it comes as a set including a rear..

What do you MTB and CX users have and what advice can you give me please?

Agree there is so much choice out there. From a personal point of view I manage OK with the one exposure joystick mounted on the bars on my cross bike. For me its bright enough for dark track riding at avdecent pace but probably not as good for real hardcore off road stuff. Run time is good, about two hours on full, 3 to 4 on medium. If I could afford it I would have this mounted to the helmet and an exposure diablo on the bars but all depends on what type of riding you intend doing, how extreme and how fast.

I am using LED lamps off ebay paid about £ 20 for them 2 years back. Recently bought siilar model but with 3 LED chips (they are available in 4 and 6), cost £ 25ish.

single were pretty birght so I am expected to be blow away by the new lamp - also it uses 8.4 V battery (and I believe takes a varible voltage so can be used with Lipo hence more running time)

I can get at least 1 hour runnig time with 2 lamps of full power off a 4 x 18650 battery pack (read that as puny)

I've just received through the post the following, I've only used it once so cant comment on its longevity but it is very bright easy to fit and above all as cheap as chips!

I just tested one from a different seller but same light, they all seem to use same page to sell. Ten days from China Order 22 Oct quoted 31 Oct to 20 Nov arrived Nov 1 No instructions No box just a lot of bubble wrap in a padded envelope. Short ride about 21:30 on a damp misty night down a dark track with bushes both sides and I was going almost as fast as I do in daylight although I must say I`m not that fast in daylight. On a narrow street with widely spaced street lighting the beam easily lights up the road leaving a hotspot in the centre of a patch filling the lane but no flashes from oncoming cars to say I`m blinding them.

Nothing to compare this light with but after one ride I`m going to order another one for the other bike.
