Crank Bros 19 ? Comes in a case these days. Very good. The 17's slightly cheaper, no case.

As soon as you don't have one you'll need one

You probably don't need a multi tool either. Just carry the allen keys that you actually need instead. For me that means 2. Seems pointless lugging around a multi-tool with bits that don't actually fit my bike. And I carry a SRAM powerlink for chain emergencies - no need for a chain tool (assuming that I'd only need to use it if the chain snapped anyway).

I don't know if any link outers (or whatever they are called) conveniently snap at either end, you'll still need a tool in an emergency.

Don't know how the weight compares to others, but I use a Park Tools IB3 and the quality is spot on.

Not a good idea to do without a chain splitter as you never know when you will need it, I too have been looking at dumping my multi tool in favour of a couple of allen keys and a screwdriver, but Sunday just gone, it was a blessing to still be carrying my multi tool. I managed to rip off my rear mech on a hill, so I had to remove it completly and then shorten my chain.

Without my chain splitter which I have never used before in the past apart from at home to make sure it works I would have had problems getting home.

167g?

Topeak mini pro 20 is well reviewed and only 150g. But I believe the Specialized EMTPro Mountain is probably the lightest at 104g with more than 10 tools (until someone proves otherwise....).

Sorry I missed out the n't, this laptop must have been overheating again
The Topeak Hexus II has one and integrated tire levers but at 167g I wouldn't be surprised if there is lighter out there.

I like the Hexus II from Topeak, enough that I now have 3, one for each saddlepack and one for my rackpack. But I went on functionality and didn't consider weight, so I also carry a Leatherman style pliers multitool in each as well. I've not had to use a chaintool for myself but have lent it out once and used it on behalf of others twice.

I also have puncture kits, tubes, tyre boots, powerlinks in 3 sizes, a bit of chain and cableties, amongst other stuff - I'm not the fastest around but I'm the sort of cyclist it can be handy to have passing by if you have a mechanical.
