Hi all,

I have been trawling the internet for a solution to this problem but apologies if it's already covered!

Basically, I will be buying a new front light for seeing with on dark winter training road rides and such. I want to mount this light where you usually see Dynamo lights - nice and low for a long throw just above the front brake, maybe off the brake bolt.

Problem is I can't seem to find information on how to mount lights that normally attach around a handlebar. I have found this and this quite a few other options on SJS but would like a blend of the two! Something thin at the brake bolt attachment to slip behind the brake bolt like on road bike dual pivot caliper brakes, but like a mini handlebar tube at the light end for attaching regular lights.

Supernova's multi mount and road brake adapter looks just the ticket if the light has like a little bolt underneath to attach to, but I'm thinking of buying a Dinnotte rip off fluxient thingy and unsure how it would work...

It's worth noting it would have to be quite short underneath the brake bolt to avoid pushing the mudguard down onto the wheel (tight clearance already) and I don't fancy the little mounts you can get to stick it on the side of your fork.

Any thoughts or experience would be appreciated!

Thanks

You could buy the Schmitt E6 mount from SJS and use a longer M6 bolt to mount a short piece of ~1 inch diameter wooden dowel (a bit of brush shaft!) to the side of it and then use the handlebar mount to mount the light to the dowel.

If you have steel forks, a better way of making a "low-rider" side of forks mounting (I've never liked any of the ones I've seen for sale either) is use an old Union or Sorbitez bottle dynamo mounting bracket and attach the light to it. This would give a very sturdy mount.

That dowel option sounds on the money! Thanks for your response. Might get a few of those mounts on SJS to get the height right, not sure what would work best at this stage for light throw. My concern with these cheap super powered eBay lights is that they are too dazzling to other road users, hopefully mounting down low will avoid this and give a nice long beam to wizz along in .

Cheers!
