Light Alignment

Hi peeps.

Are there any rules / recommendations with regards to aligning a front bike light as there are with motor vehicles?

Yes. Upto a height of 150cm, facing forwards, 4 candela when flashing etc. In reality you're not going to blind a driver unless you have one of these mad torches of expensive systems. I have 3 lights and I set them apart by a few inches. One has a better vertical spread of light so I have that in the middle. The other two I set at slightly different angles in the horizontal plane. I find placing two lights a few inches apart works very well for "being seen".

Thanks very much indeed. Looks like I will have no problems with my set-up. I am ashamed to say I have not tested it on the trail yet. If not before I will on Nov 5th as that is when I am assisting at the event. I really should get a night / evening ride in before but at the moment my day seems be more arranged for morning / afternoon rides. Anyone would think I actually had a life

+1 on MarinYork.

3 lamps. One really bright one pointing down the road. One not so bright one pointing at the kerb approx 2 - 3 meters ahead, and a 1 Watt LED cheapo from Poundland pointing straight at the oncoming motorists. It won't blind them, but you WILL be seen.

but I quite fancy getting another identical one for the other side of the stem (symmetry / aesthetics and all that )
