Lidle/Crivit bike maintenance stand

Bought one of these about 10 days ago and found the clamp screw not working. 5 days ago noticed a freephone number on the box and called (I think it was in Holland, can't have been UK because they were helpfull!) Asked wich part was faulty, asked my address, yesterday a brand new clamp arrives by UPS, no fuss, no paperwork, end of story. New one works just fine and I can't imagine anything from say H*l***ds being that easy!

Never heard of Crivit before, but all the Lidle cycle stuff carrying this brand name. Perhaps it's Flemish for dung beetle? Anyway, I'm a fan.
 
Very nice service, often expected from premium brands but not delivered.
Quite a pleasant surprise to hear such a good story about such an inexpensive brand name.
(Also reassuring as I bought the same stand, but all my knobs are working fine!)

Lidl are just splendid. Bought a bike light last year. The clip that holds the light to the frame broke.

Rang their Customer Service, who rang their supplier in China and new part on its way. They ring me every few days to update me on the progress.

Excellent.

That's good to know. I bought a Lidl microwave a couple of minths back, the interior light bulb has gone and I didn't fancy returning the whole thing and doing without, so if they will post a bulb I'll fit it.

I got one of these as a Christmas present and the clamp for the handlebar is broken and I have stupidly thrown the instructions out, don't suppose you still have the phone number or address?

Same with their computers. A friend asked me about them, I said to avoid as they will be cheap-o-crap-o...but he bought it anyway. When he wanted another hard disk in he called me to fit it and inside it was all branded parts. Not top of the line ASUS, but resepctable MSI main and graphics card, seagate hard disk and a decent make of memory.


Another chap I know had one and had it fail just out of the warrenty period, he still got a replacement and no messing about.

I would buy their stuff.

I got one of these and the clamp screw was bust straight out of the box.

I phoned the help number, seems to be in Germany, on 07/10/10 and was told I'd get a replacement clamp within two weeks.

A month later I emailed Lidl to explain the situation and it took them two weeks to reply to it. In the email I'd explained exactly what was wrong, provided the serial number on the reciept etc, but when they finally called me I had to go through it all again.

Two weeks later I got another call to say they were still speaking to the supplier and couldn't give me any idea when I'd get a new part.

Finally on 23/12/10 the new part arrived.

Over two months from first buying it to being able to use it, never has the saying, "you get what you pay for," been more true. :angry:

If the Porteus doesn't get back to you, you can contact Lidl via their online contact us form and they'll tell you the number you need to dial.
