After 2 years and 4 months my lidl spd shoes have finally died.

They have done at least 8000 miles in all weathers from snow to sun and everything inbetween but today the bottom of the shoe just behind the cleat spilt open with the cleat luckily holding the shoe together.
RIP Lidl shoe !!

Trying to get the cleats off now, tried drilling the bolt but they are firmly attatched so it looks like i will have to bin them as well.

That's how mine died at the end of Feb after under 2000 miles. They did well for £15 and got me using SPDs for good.

Mine are still OK. They're just over 2 years old but not used all the time. I have some dhb R1's for road bike. Next time I buy some I'll go for a size smaller cos having lost all the weight they feel a little too loose at times.

Meanwhile, my Lidl cycling gloves continue to cover the miles. I thought it a wise move to buy replacements before I needed them a couple of years ago, but the new ones are slowly ageing in a cupboard as the originals soldier on and on and on.

Got some new cleats from thr LBS, 10 % discount as i am a club member that has the shops name on the jersey .
Spent some time getting the cleats on then a spin up the drive a few times to double check alignment, keeping the old shoes as a reference pair.

Did you manage to get the cleats off the old ones then ck?

I noticed Aldi done some trainer type ones and then some road shoe looking ones. I got the trainer type a long time ago but will begin using them to commute on soon.

I did not manage to get the old cleats off, i probably could if i wanted to and if i had a drill bit for metal, i only have masonary + wood bits so it was just grinding away.
The "new " shoes are the aldi road looking shoe i had in stock , they seem ok and will be better than my "best " pair which have mesh panels making a bit cold for my feet yet.
