For what it's worth, Aldi's cycling offers are generally at around the same time as Lidl although they have nothing listed on their website yet...

If you are a large get a medium. I bought a soft shell jacket and a couple of jerseys in Denmark last week and they are a bit big.

Been using a Lidl lid all winter, with no complaints. Also some Roubaix-style bib longs and a winter jersey, again no complaints although I think Aldi stuff is better quality.

Check the quoted chest ( or waist for shorts) size rather than relying on M L etc, their smallest, medium, shorts sold previously were 38-40 inch waist although to make them fit better I can recommended their New York Cheesecake!

Got a few of the shorts (the ones with the red inserts), but will probably return them as the chamois is too thin to be much use on longer rides. OK for a short commute. Bit disappointed as they're usually better than this.
Will just have to wait for Aldi's sale and see what they have, or pop down to Mountain Warehouse this weekend as they have an extra 20% off bringing the shorts prices down to the same as Lidl's.

Looks like the similarly priced mountain warehouse shorts are similarly chamois challenged.

Any suggestions for budget priced shorts with decent padding for longer rides?

B'twin from Decathlon are very good - probably avoid the very cheapest (300-series) ones, but I've got 500, 520 and 700 series ones and they are very good for the money - even better when on promotion. Wiggle's DHB brand get consistently good reviews, although their very cheapest shorts are a bit garishly coloured...:becool:
