When you haven't used your pump on the hybrid for over a year it's worth checking it BEFORE trying to re-inflate a tube following a flat miles from nowhere. I got just enough air in to enable me to ride to Halfords (nearest place) to buy a new pump.

Also, it is a good idea to remove the new tube from the panniers BEFORE upending the bike and removing the wheel, otherwise when you manage to unzip the pannier all the accumulated rubbish falls out.

Also, when taken desperately short, so desperate that there is no alternative than to find a suitable bush, wet wipes are much kinder than toilet paper.

What was the problem with the pump ?
I realy could have done without hearing about your toilet habits btw.

wet ones are brilliant to clean your hands after changing a tyre, and yes if you get caught short they're useful too.
well worth having in the bag as they take up barely any room and are really light.
