I, along with Touche, have done this a couple of times. We tend to wait until we see the weather forecast for the day, then enter on the line.

Once away, it's a full-on charge to Freuchie, where the tea/cake/strawberry tart :hungry: stop is legendary ! The only snag is the (steeeep) climb up Cadger's Brae which comes 10 mins later ...

'Keeping my powder dry' at the mo'. ;)

Only problem for you Scoosh is the tape at the start and avoiding it ;)

Good stuff. I will probably be on the train into Waverley at 0806, and then plant myself in one of the two first boxes at the start line.

Been up since just after 0630 and the rain has been relentless, so it will be a big no from me today, 68 miles in the wet is not too bad, but with the forecasted NE wind sorry guys, better forecast for tomorrow so will just have to make it up by doing my own wee ride round the roads of West Lothian

I decided to enter this at the last minute without fully appreciating how bad the weather was. Cycled to Inverleith Park, bottled out and cycled back home!

Well done to anyone who does this.

hmmm ... was thinking about all the people down in Inverleith Park from my cosy bed, while listening to the wind & rain outside.
What do you do if you signed up and got lots of sponsorship promises  ... I suppose in that case you would REALLY earn every penny the hard way on a day like today. The forecast looks a wee bit less wet the further north and east, but any rain will be straight into your face, and that northeasterly won't help at all. :surrender:
My excuse for not riding is that the elbow fracture from 3 weeks ago is still mending. Much improved, and I sat on the bike indoors yesterday and tested using brakes and gently putting weight on the right hand :whistle: ... not long to go, I think before a wee test ride ...:wahhey:

Chapeau to anybody who is out there right now ...

I have returned home from a very hard days work in the saddle.

Bailing out was seriously considered last night, but a busy schedule has meant no time for proper rides in two months, so with time set aside today, I decided there would be no excuses.

The rain was not too bad. The heavy rain died off as I crossed the FRB, and only returned on the final stretch into St Andrews. I even managed to enjoy an ice cream cone on Cleish Hill. The wind, however, was exactly as advertised: relentless, and more or less straight in your face almost the entire day, sending my average speed crashing downwards. Especially the last 15 km or so from Craigrothie were absolute torture. On the plus side, the cakes at Freuchie were once again outstanding, and just about made the whole thing worth it.

I only hung around at the finish long enough to collect my certificate, before setting off for the last push to Dundee, where I had a train reservation for home. I spend the waiting time assaulting several local fast food outlets to recover some energy...

My ride time from Edinburgh to St Andrews was an abysmal 5hr35min. All tallied up I covered just over 136 km for the day.
