when you buy cycling glasses with interchangeable lenses, can someone tell me when do you use the red ones? I am ok with yellow, clear and polaroid ones but why red?

I have dark, pink, yellow and clear lenses on my glasses, and i wear the pink ones the most. I find the yellow ones don't block enough light in the summer, and the dark ones i find too dark. Pink is just right for me. Plus, I prefer looking at the world through rose tinted spectacles than yellow tinted ones!

The yellow ones enhance the light, good for low light conditions.

Clear lens - dark or gloomy conditions
Dark - bright conditions
Pink - anything in between.

Weird things, glasses. I must have carried cycling glasses + spare lenses with me for about 4000 miles without ever putting them on. The last time I put them on was during the sub-zero temps last winter because of watering eyes - this hasn't been a problem this year. I then decided I'd wear them in insect times. (Those high-velocity encounters with bumblebees can be a shock to the system, and eyesight.) But I haven't bumped into any this year either.

And, of course, in town, direct eye contact with road and pavement users seems far more communicative/effective.(Unless you cycle amongst dragonflies - they understand cycling glasses)

So, without a mega-frost or infestation of insects, I'm wondering why I even own them.
