Well I won't be doing the LEL, my knee just will not tolerate the training schedule, I think I have to accept that I can no longer consider this kind of distance, 300 miles over two days results in my knee joint becoming very unstable, good luck to those who are doing it though, wish I could join you.

Noooo! That really really is a shame. Are you sure? Is it not possible to try and build the knee up to it? You still have time. It just seems awful to pull out of something you want to do.

I have concerns myself, my training schedule having been disrupted through illness, but I reckon I'll get there. It is taking more focus than I like to give (to anything!) and I've had set backs... but the crux of it is that I want to do it so I'll persevere.

Sad to hear but, as yello says, I wouldn't give up just yet.

It might be worth going to see a sports physio and see if there's any treatment and exercises you can do to build up the strength in the knee.

Good luck...

I discussed it with my physio on Sunday and he did stress that I have to remember that I missing both anterior and posterior cruciate ligaments in that knee so I shouldn't by rights be able to walk, the fact that I had covered 300 miles over the weekend was as he said "crazy", but on examination it seems that the meniscus loosen up a lot during the rocking motion induced by pedaling and that cases the issue as these are taking up a lot of the work of the missing ligaments. I cannot afford to damage them so I'm going to have to face upto that. Thanks for the good wishes though.

I can understand that. Makes sense. Bet you're a bit pissed off though even if you reluctantly accept the situation.

Console yourself, if it's needed!, by realising you've made someone on the waiting list very happy - and you've given them plenty of time to get in shape too.
