Was asking a while back regards navigation for my first audax (LEL next month).
After much facing I've decided I'll use a garmin 705 and had loaded the GPX files in last week to try out this weekend as was recce'ing the whole route in the car (sad, I know).
Had never used my garmin to navigate before so was well chufed when I popped it onto the dashboard and saw the pink line guiding me on the route.
Then I hit a problem or two and am after a bit of help (having now entered 'flap'/panic' mode).
1. When selecting one of the routes it said it was truncated - any ideas why that would be?
2. When the navigation was working (which was brilliant), then after say 30 miles the image would suddenly zoom out to 'country' level and not sure why that would be?
3. Occasionally when I selected another leg of the ride to navigate, it would start off at this 'country level' as well ?
4. Sometimes the pink line would start to drift off what was definitely the correct route. So eventually you could see me tracking on the right road, but the pink line actually disappeared off the screen, so no real clue if I was in the right road ( but definitely was)
Not got a micro card in the 705, so not sure if that might be the cause of number 1
Cracking myself that I won't get this sorted, as having driven the whole route, I know the navigation for down south is essential.
